Middle School Sports

Middle-Level Sports Program

Sports at the middle level include only students in grades 6-8.

TNS added middle school sports for the first time during the 2022-23 school year. Sports will be added using a phased-in approach including the following sports now available at TNS:

  • Girls Volleyball (Fall)
  • Boy's Soccer (Fall) 
  • Boys Basketball (Winter I)
  • Girls Basketball (Winter II)
  • Boys and Girls Wrestling (Winter II)
  • Girl's Soccer (Spring)

PWCS sports include and are limited to Football, Boys Track, Girls Track, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Boys Baseball, and Girls Softball. TNS will further investigate the capacity to add these as additional sports in the coming years.

West Conference

Middle schools in PWCS only compete against other middle schools in PWCS and Manassas Park Schools. The Nokesville School is included in the PWCS "West" Conference. West Teams are:

  • Bull Run MS
  • Gainesville MS
  • Marsteller MS
  • Metz MS
  • Reagan MS
  • Unity Braxton MS

Tryout Information

To try out and participate in athletic activities, students must:

Fall 2024 tryouts for girl's volleyball and boy's soccer will be August 26, 2024. 

Sports Eligibility

PWCS academic standards require high school students participating in interscholastic athletics, cheerleading, marching band, and drill team to pass five subjects and earn a "C" or better in two of those five subjects at the end of the first semester and at the end of the school year. All student-athletes must meet the VHSL academic requirement of passing five classes in the previous semester and must be enrolled in no less than five classes for the current semester. Learn more in the Quick reference for Virginia High School League (VHSL) eligibility.
