Principal - Eric Worcester

Being the principal of The Nokesville School is an incredible privilege and I am consistently thankful for this opportunity. 2020 marks my 20th year in education and there is nowhere I would rather be than this fantastic community of phenomenal educators, dedicated students, and supportive families. I have worked at a variety of schools throughout my career, teaching high school in Slovakia, middle school in New Hampshire and Virginia, and elementary school in Prince William County. As an assistant principal, I had the opportunity to open Fitzgerald Elementary School in Woodbridge before receiving my position as principal at Nokesville. I appreciate the unique opportunity at Nokesville as the only K-8 school in PWCS and one of the few public K-8 schools in Virginia. Nokesville is a wonderfully tight-knit community with truly amazing families and committed staff members; I am so proud to be a part of it. Go Tigers!

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincerest wishes that everyone in our community stays safe during this unprecedented situation. For every answer, there seems to be a hundred more questions. We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while we traverse this unknown land of virtual learning/home learning/distance learning. Whatever you call it, it can be overwhelming. I advise you to think about your family and yourself first. We are working diligently to develop plans and systems that can be helpful for our families. The last thing we are trying to do is add additional stressors to an already stressful situation. We know that sometimes the information coming at you can be overwhelming. We are not trying to overwhelm you; we are trying to give you resources and ideas to assist you on the educational front. At this time, none of the items being sent are required. Some of you are working full-time jobs and taking on the new role as a teacher. Some of you are facing unemployment and are deeply concerned about making ends meet and trying to be a teacher. Regardless of your situation, everyone is in a place of uncertainty. Take a moment, take a breath, don’t open that email immediately, and take it one step at a time.

I have been in the education field for over 20+ years. It is a pleasure and honor to be the assistant principal at The Nokesville School. Previously, I taught 2nd Grade, 6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Language Arts, and K – 5 Physical Education. I attended the University of Pittsburgh where I earned my Master of Education Degree. I continued my education and earned my Master of Administration and Supervision PreK – 12 Degree. Working at TNS has been like coming home for me. I grew up in a small, close-knit community similar to Nokesville. I cherish the opportunity that I had in opening our beautiful new building in 2014. The families, students, and staff are all vital components that work together in unison that make us a visionary community that inspires excellence.

I feel so honored to start my 16th year in education working at The Nokesville School as an Administrative Intern. Previously I taught Life Science here at Nokesville since the school opened in 2014. Education has always been an important role in my life, not only as an educator teaching others, but also for my personal growth, I strive to be a student constantly seeking opportunities to learn. I was a student at Virginia State University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a teaching endorsement. I then attended Virginia Tech to obtain a Master of Science in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology and Education. In more recent years, I completed a Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from George Mason University.

To say that I am excited to take on this new role at Nokesville would be an understatement. I truly believe that all students can achieve and be successful and it is my duty to stand alongside them supporting them along their journey!
